Privacy policy
Troublemedia Backups is a personal utility operated by the Troublemedia account owner to protect application configuration backups. It is not a public backup service.
Google account access
The utility uses Google OAuth with the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file scope. This lets it create, read, verify and manage the specific Drive files used with this app. The backup job uses its own dedicated backup files and folders; it does not scan unrelated Drive files or request Gmail or Google Photos access.
Authorization credentials, including refresh tokens, are stored in a restricted configuration on the owner’s server so scheduled backups can run. During setup, a restricted temporary copy may be used on the owner’s computer to complete Google sign-in and transfer the configuration. These credentials are not published on this website or sent to Discord.
Backup information and encryption
Source configuration backups can contain application databases, settings, media request history, account identifiers and app access credentials. The utility encrypts file contents, filenames and directory names before upload using rclone crypt. Decryption and verification happen on the owner’s equipment. No unencrypted backup contents are intentionally uploaded to Google Drive.
Google still receives the account and service information needed to store and deliver the encrypted files, such as file sizes, upload activity and the dedicated outer folder name. Encryption does not hide all storage metadata.
Purpose, sharing and notifications
Google user data and backup files are used only to create, verify and recover the owner’s backups. They are not sold, used for advertising, or used to train general-purpose AI models. The utility does not intentionally share backup files with other Drive users.
Short failure alerts may be sent to the owner’s private Discord channel. These alerts describe an operational problem and can identify the server or affected app; they do not include backup file contents, encryption passphrases or Google authorization tokens. Google, Discord and the hosting providers process service information under their own applicable policies.
Retention and removal
Cloud backups use dated copies and are retained until the account owner removes them or configures a separate retention policy. Removing a local backup does not automatically remove its cloud recovery copy. Revoking Google access stops future authorized transfers but does not itself delete files already stored in Drive.
The owner can revoke this app in Google Account’s third-party access settings and can remove the utility’s backup files in Google Drive. Keep the encryption recovery passphrase separately; losing it can make the encrypted copies unrecoverable.
This information website
This site has no account sign-in, upload form, advertising code or optional analytics added by Troublemedia. Its hosting providers may process basic request information, including IP address, browser information and timestamps, to deliver and protect the website.
