TROUBLEMEDIA BACKUPS
Personal backup utility

Encrypted recovery copies.
Kept off the server.

Troublemedia Backups copies completed application configuration backups to the account owner’s personal Google Drive. Its purpose is to preserve recovery copies if the original server or local backup storage is lost.

This website provides information about the utility. It does not offer public storage, connect visitors’ Google accounts, or provide access to any backup files.

What the utility does

  1. Checks completed configuration backups from Homarr, Seerr, Prowlarr, Sonarr and Radarr.
  2. Encrypts backup contents and filenames before sending them to a dedicated folder in the owner’s Google Drive.
  3. Reads the encrypted cloud copy back, decrypts it locally and compares it with the source to verify the transfer.
  4. Sends a short operational alert to the owner’s private Discord channel if an upload or verification fails.

Limited Google Drive access

The utility requests Google’s drive.file permission. It uses that permission to create and verify its own backup files. It does not request access to Gmail, Google Photos or unrelated Drive files. The account owner authorizes the connection directly with Google.

Recovery stays with the owner

The backup encryption passphrase must be kept separately from the server. Google sign-in alone cannot decrypt the backup files. Dated cloud copies are kept independently of the local backup rotation.
